Skeet shooting is a competitive & recreational type of shooting. It often involves using a shotgun to shoot clay disks, and is also now an Olympic sport.
So what is the process of skeet shooting? There is a machine that shoots out the clay disks sometimes referred to as clay pigeons, and then the shooter stands a certain distance away and tries to shoot the clay disk while it is in motion. Skeet shooting simulates bird hunting, however you are shooting from one area around a half-circle at the clay disks that are being propelled about 60 yards into the air. By shooting from around the half-circle, it gives the shooter a way to practice shots from different angles depending on where the clay disk is coming from.
Skeet shooting is very popular and can often give people the thrill of shooting without harming live animals. Whereas at the same time for those hunters who do like to shoot live animals, shooting skeet is a great way to practice accuracy while not scaring away all the animals in the area. Skeet shooting has grown in popularity throughout the years as shooting as a whole has become more popular with this very safe and controlled shooting environment. As you take on the thrill of skeet shooting make sure to practice caution as you continue on this adventure.
