Deer Stalking

Deer stalking is a sport that's both very popular and necessary in Britain. With the natural enemies of deer having been made extinct, deer have no threat and reproduce at astounding rates. To help maintain and healthy and reasonably sized deer population, about thirty percent of them need to be culled each year. This culling is never random. On the contrary, sex and age are taken into consideration to determine which deer should be stalked and which should be ignored. If population is to be decreased, the females will be culled. If an increase is needed, only injured or sick animals will be permitted to be eliminated.

In the United States, deer stalking is referred to as deer hunting. But in Britain that term means something completely different. The term "deer hunting" refers to pursuing deer with scent hounds and unarmed followers on horseback. If the followers bear guns then it's considered stalking.

Deer stalking has gained quite a following throughout the years. The male deer are considered trophies and generate the most excitement when culling time comes around. Wealthy shooters pay exorbitant amounts of money to have a chance to shoot them. High-powered rifles are fitted with strong scopes in order to improve the chance of shooting one of these majestic creatures.

Deer stalking is an exciting and fun sport. Having the opportunity to cull the herds is a great way to relieve everyday stress. Honing your accuracy and mastery skills during a day or two of deer stalking pays off if you're fortunate enjoy to bring a trophy home with you.
